Hot Water Cylinders

Hot Water Cylinders

While many homes in the UK rely on a combi boiler to tackle both their heating and hot water, sometimes that won’t be sufficient. Especially in homes where you have multiple bathrooms, you might require a hot water cylinder to provide enough hot water for your needs.

There are two types of cylinder available. Unvented models are more advanced and compact, offering you a space-saving solution with more reliable water pressure. However vented cylinders are a lot cheaper. If you have the space available and you’re looking to save money then a vented hot water cylinder can be a much more affordable option.

They work through storing a high volume of water in a cold tank. This water is then fed down into the vented cylinder to be heated. Therefore, it relies on gravity, and so the higher the cold water tank the better – it’s usually stored in the loft. This also means that you’ll get better water pressure downstairs in your property.

One minor benefit of a vented option is that, if your mains water is ever shut off, you won’t be left without hot water – the cold tank can still feed the cylinder so you won’t be left waiting for the mains supply to be switched back on before your bath.

At TBQ Gas, we’re able to cover the whole of the North West from our bases in Bolton and Preston and so we can quickly be with you if you have a problem with your existing vented hot water cylinder. We can carry out emergency repairs if it springs a leak or stops heating your water when you need it most, with emergency call outs available until 10pm each day.

We can also maintain your heating system with an annual service. Having your hot water cylinder fittings checked every year ensures that any potential issues are caught early and fixed before they potentially cause worse damage to your home.

If you want a new vented hot water cylinder installed in your property then we can also assist. We’d recommend upgrading to an unvented model if you have the budget, but we understand that won’t always be the case. For new vented hot water cylinder installations, we can quickly and professionally add your new model to your home with minimal disruption.

For all your vented hot water cylinder needs, just give us a call.
